UNESCO Garden Kingdom Dessau-Wörlitz
Goethe already raved 250 years ago about the largest and first part of the Dessau-Wörlitz Garden Kingdom.
"It is infinitely beautiful here," Goethe enthused when he visited Wörlitz Landscape Park 250 years ago - the largest and first part of the Dessau-Wörlitz Garden Kingdom. Soon after, all of Europe was to admire the Garden Kingdom, which was built on the English model. So did the population of the time. Thanks to the enlightened ideas of the reigning prince and founder of the Garden Kingdom, Leopold III Friedrich Franz, princely gardens became accessible to them for educational purposes for the first time, including the Georgium, Luisium and the Sieglitzer Berg forest park. Remarkable avenues, dike paths and visual axes connect them to this day with the older grounds in Oranienbaum and Mosigkau, merging them into a seemingly endless park.
Marvel at Europe's only artificial volcano on the rocky island of "Stein" or take an Italian gondola ride on Lake Wörlitz - you will find these and many more offers here.
