Georgium Palace and Park

Georgium Palace and Park

An impressive example of the ideas of the Enlightenment is the 20-hectare Georgengarten with Georgium Palace.

The Georgium Palace is home to the Anhalt Picture Gallery Dessau, the most important collection of old paintings and prints in Saxony-Anhalt. The ensemble was built from 1780 by Prince Johann Georg von Anhalt-Dessau.

The permanent collection has been closed since spring 2012 due to extensive renovation of the palace. Special exhibitions in the Orangery and the Fremdenhaus can still be visited.
