Stage Goslar-Wernigerode
This stage starts in the UNESCO World Heritage town of Goslar and leads along the northern edge of the Harz Mountains through the spa towns of Bad Harzburg and Ilsenburg to Wernigerode, the colorful town on the Harz Mountains.
Tour
The route starts at the historic imperial palace in Goslar and runs along the northern edge of the Harz Mountains through the spa town of Bad Harzburg. Wide views of the undulating Harz foreland accompany leisure cyclists to the tranquil town of Ilsenburg, which can be reached via a varied gravel path. In Eckertal, the Ecker river crosses the former inner-German border. The route continues past the trout pond and castle park above the Ilsenburg district of Drübeck. It is worth making a detour to the former Benedictine abbey Evangelisches Zentrum Kloster Drübeck. The Wernigerode district of Darlingerode is also passed before continuing along forest paths past the Augustinian hermit monastery Kloster Himmelpforte, which no longer exists today, to Wernigerode, where the stage ends at the market square.
