Stage Berlin - Buckow

The east of Berlin has some of the most exciting places in the capital with the historic center of Berlin, the Nikolaiviertel, Alexanderplatz and the East Side Gallery.

Today's Berlin district of Köpenick was an independent town until 1920, and its founding dates back longer than that of Berlin. The old town with the town hall still bears witness to this today. From Erkner, back in Brandenburg, the Oder-Spree lake district begins. Besides a lot of water, it offers on the way to the Oder with the nature park Märkische Schweiz once again moving landscape with throats and ravines.

Route direction

Directly from the TV tower at Berlin Alexanderplatz, the Europaradweg turns to the southeast and leads a piece along the former wall, which is still preserved today as East Side Gallery. Always close to the Spree through the water-rich Berlin-Köpenick, with the old town and Müggelsee, the Oder-Spree lake district is reached. Here a few real lakeland classics await. The lakes around Erkner and Grünheide, in which the cyclists' calves can be cooled in summer, are included. In Garzau, a fieldstone pyramid awaits and in Märkische Schweiz, the Oder-Spree lake district shows its hilly side for once. A photo of the shimmering turquoise Schermützelsee in Buckow is a must in the photo album.

Tipp des Autors

The ZR1

feeder.

For all cyclists who want to make themselves from the northeast of Berlin on the way in the direction of Märkische Schweiz and Oder, a special feeder route was signposted. The so-called ZR1 takes you from Berlin's Hönow subway station via Altlandsberg to Rehfelde on the Europaradweg.
