Nature trail Sprohne

The nature trail, which has been in existence since 2011, presents the floodplain forest vegetation characteristic of the northern part of the nature park. In the context of the Nienburg site and neighboring Grimschleben, the locality is particularly well suited to the nature parks' approach to linking nature, culture and history. With its information boards, the nature trail provides important background knowledge on flora and fauna.

Since the summer of 2021, the nature trail can also be experienced via an interactive cell phone quiz. The Sprohne nature reserve adjacent to the nature trail is located opposite the town of Nienburg on the eastern side of the Saale. It is the most northerly nature reserve of the nature park "Unteres Saaletal". The area is characterized by a near-natural and species-rich hardwood floodplain forest with pedunculate oaks, ashes and hornbeams as well as oxbow lakes of the Saale and their siltation areas. There are also poplar forests and orchards. Occurring plant and animal species are e.g. hollow larkspur, yellow anemone, goshawk, lesser spotted woodpecker, pied tit and common raven. Hiking trails make it possible to experience the interesting area.
