Neuhardenberg Castle
Neuhardenberg Castle is a cultural and historical gem.
Schloss Neuhardenberg combines Prussian, German and European history and is a cultural-historical gem on which Schinkel, Prince Pückler-Muskau and also Lenné have immortalized themselves. The donation to Karl August Freiherr Prince von Hardenberg in the 19th century, the advocate of Prussian reforms, the resistance against National Socialism around the assassination attempt on July 20, 1944 and the transformation into a socialist model village in 1949 are important stages of the eventful history. The ensemble of palace buildings and Schinkel church, which in its unity is considered a unique testimony to Prussian classicism, harmonizes with the expanse of the landscape park in the style of English garden art. Since 2001, the Neuhardenberg Castle Foundation has been responsible for the site, which is now used as an event venue with an exceptional cultural program, as well as a hotel and country inn, and is associated with many renowned national and international artists and personalities from the fields of politics and science.
